About HTWA

Harrison Township Water Authority was formed in 1965 by Harrison Township to facilitate providing water service to the residents of the Northern part of the Township by purchasing bulk water from Clearview Water Company, which owned the system in the rest of Harrison Township and the Water Treatment Plant in Natrona. In 1986 Harrison Township purchased the Water Treatment Plant and water system from Clearview Water Company and transferred the assets to the Water Authority, forming the Harrison Township Water Authority which exists today. In 2015 the Board of Directors and General Manager Charles Craig submitted amended Articles of Incorporation to the State and Township, which were accepted, to extend the Authority’s existence for a further 50 years until 2065.

The Harrison Township Water Authority treatment plant withdraws water from the Allegheny River and, through a process of sedimentation, filtration, and disinfection, can provide up to 3 million gallons of water per day to the residents and businesses of the township, as well as connections with Fawn-Frazer Joint Water Authority, the Municipal Authority of Buffalo Township, and Brackenridge Borough if needed.

Harrison Township Water Authority currently serves the 10,164 residents of Harrison Township by providing treated water from our treatment plant in Natrona through 5 storage facilities, 57 miles of mainline, and 4,774 service connections to the homes and businesses in Natrona Heights.
